Jordan Showcases Its Christian Heritage During Special Event in Arlington, Texas
Arlington, Texas – June 25, 2026 – The Jordan Tourism Board, in partnership with First Baptist Church Arlington, hosted a special event titled "The Christian Faith in Jordan: A Land of Revelation, Baptism, and Pilgrimage," highlighting Jordan's unique place in the history of Christianity and its role as one of the world's leading faith-based tourism destinations.
The event opened with a photo exhibition featuring Jordan's biblical and Christian heritage, followed by the Jordanian National Anthem, musical performances, and welcoming remarks by Rev. Dr. Dennis Wiles and H.E. Dr. Emad Hejazeen, Jordan's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
The program featured a keynote address by Dr. Sarah Wenner, Executive Director of the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. Guests also attended a presentation by Dr. Imed Dabbour and Abby Skeans, showcasing Jordan's rich Christian pilgrimage experience and the significance of its sacred sites.
During his remarks, Minister Hejazeen emphasized Jordan's exceptional religious heritage, highlighting Bethany Beyond the Jordan—the UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized as the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ—as well as Mount Nebo, the legacy of the Prophet Elijah, and Petra's connection to Saint Paul's early spiritual journey.
The Minister also reaffirmed Jordan's longstanding commitment to religious coexistence and interfaith dialogue under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, whose efforts continue to safeguard Christian and Islamic holy sites while strengthening Jordan's position as a global destination for pilgrimage and faith tourism.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Rev. Dr. Dennis Wiles and brought together church leaders, scholars, members of the Jordanian-American community, and visitors interested in learning more about Jordan's enduring message of faith, peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
The event was organized as part of Jordan's tourism promotion activities accompanying the FIFA World Cup 2026, showcasing the Kingdom's rich religious, cultural, and historical heritage to international audiences.
